[CASTLE OF BOURDEILLES]
The first traces attesting of Bourdeilles brings us back to a fortified town, which in 1183 received monks who have come to seek refuge with the Saint-Sicaire’s relics.
This is the exactly place where the body of a feudal building has been erected at the end of the 13th century and still remaining today.
For several centuries, torn between the crown of France and England, the castle of Bourdeilles will go through many political and religious storms.
Defensive at first, the coveted object, the theater of bloody epics, released from the English, to finally returned to the Count of Perigord by Duguesclin.
With peace returned, Jacquette de Montbron decided to built the Renaissance castle at the end of the 16th century, within a few strides of the medieval fortress.
Bourdeilles is also known as a castle of pleasure, testifying of a new and elegant art of living .
An exceptional and unique collection of furniture in France.
